Due to a fear that has been force fed to them

Steadily allow them to control more of our daily lives

While they live rich, lavish lives of luxury
You toil away for them
Nine to five
If you are lucky
To make money for someone who dictates your worth
One person over another
Orders given
Orders gladly carried out
Blindly chasing what little is left of the “American Dream”
Grind away
The machine turns
Grinds up our individualism
Be proud of yourself, for you are one of a kind
But try and fit in and listen to what your teachers say
Obey
Be unique
Be one
Be the same
Just conform
And we are told this is the way
This is the only way
Find happiness in your cubicle
But
Pay attention to the men in uniforms
Respect authority

Who’s authority?
I grant my own wishes

I have no answers for such queries

Feel
Taste
Smell
Whatever is real to you
Whatever you detect with your five senses

Reality
What you choose to do with this reality is up to you

For now
Vegetate to the television
And don’t forget to take your meds
Because, if the T.V. fails
